That voice. That attitude. That food!
Chef Blythe Beck has always been the life of the party.
(Who else would have the charisma to win a Halloween costume contest dressed simply as a witch?) As a child growing up in Houston, Blythe wasn’t sure what she wanted to do with her life, but she knew whatever it was – it would be big.
Big doesn’t even begin to describe it.
Blythe Beck is on a quest for Total World Culinary Domination. The bold, 29 year old chef has caused a major sensation in Dallas with her Sexy New American Cuisine – innovative, decadent dishes powered by her unique philosophy toward food and life: “Keep it naughty.”
Naughty means butter, cream, cheese and porkfat.
It means flavorful American classics with a sexy twist,
like “Buck-Nekkid Bacon,” “Dirty South Sausage Balls” and “Fudge Ménages à Trois.”
When Blythe has her way with an avocado, she stuffs it with lobster and cheese and then deep fries it – with love. Dallas Morning News Restaurant Critic Bill Addison calls the wildly popular dish “genius,” declaring that “Raciness, at least in the culinary realms, appears to be Ms. Beck’s forte.”
“The naughtiest thing I’ve ever done in my kitchen is take a whole slab of bacon, rub bacon fat on it and then pack it with brown sugar,” Blythe enthuses. “Now that’s dirty!”
From Blythe’s mouth, “dirty” isn’t a dirty word – it’s a destination. “Diner by diner, dish by dish, I’m gonna make the whole world love naughty food,” says the fiery redhead, who strives to create a four-star dining experience in a warm, comfortable environment. Consider it upscale with a hug:
“Fine dining should be accessible to everyone,” she believes. “You shouldn’t need a dictionary to read the menu.”
Blythe’s clientele are often surprised to discover that their four-star feast has been marinated in forty ounces of malt liquor. She not only soaks her ribs in beer – she’s also determined to be the new face of Schlitz Malt Liquor.
“I want to bring back the 40!”
As the Executive Chef at Hotel Palomar in Dallas, Blythe can be found sporting her signature pink chef attire, barking orders and sassing her crew in the gorgeous show kitchen at Central 214, the boutique hotel’s premiere restaurant. Her large and loyal fan base spans every age, race, size, gender and sexual orientation, celebrating Blythe’s passion for food, her lust for life, and her recipe for guilt-free living.
“My goal is to create amazingly memorable food with the freshest ingredients and lots of love you can taste,” she says. “It’s meant to celebrate you in the good times, it’s there to comfort you in the sad times, and it will cheer you on when you’ve done well.”
Outside the restaurant, Blythe can be seen at various local charity events and chef showcases warning audiences,
“I hope you wore your stretchy pants!” She regularly makes appearances at events such as the Texas State Fair, Savor Dallas, A Taste of Dallas, and the Farmer’s Market Hoedown. She is also a frequent contributor to The Dallas Morning News’ popular feature on wine pairings.
Blythe’s quest for Total World Culinary Domination (“TWCD”) is currently being documented for a new reality TV series to air on Oxygen later this year. “The Naughty Kitchen With Chef Blythe Beck” will take viewers inside Blythe’s wickedly fun and racy world – both in and out of her Dallas restaurant – as the sassy, super-sized chef imbues her “fired up” spirit into everything she does and everyone she meets.
“This is not a job. This is not a career. This is not a choice,” Blythe says. “This is what I am meant to do – this is my PASSION.”
