Cherry Mash If you are driving across I-70 this holiday season, stop at the Oasis gas station in Colby, Kansas for a delicious Cherry Mash. (There's gas, a Starbucks, 31 Flavors and sub shop too.)
Cherry Mash We bought the National Candy Co. in the 1940s. The founder of National was V.L. Price, father of horror actor Vincent Price. We drove by the building in 2005 to check it out and it still has some beautiful detail to it. Not surprising that it was just listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The National Candy Company Factory building on the Gravois Avenue alignment of Route 66 in St. Louis was named to the National Register of Historic Places effective Nov. 5, according to an e-mail from the National Park Service.

Cherry Mash Candy maker Cathy Kochenderfer recently retired after 31 years with the company. In the time she was with us, we estimate she helped produce or dip over 200 tons of Coconut Bon Bons. Candy is in Cathy's families genes as her daughter Brenda now works for us. We are sad to see Cathy go but thank her for all of her years... of service and for leaving us with another dedicated employee - her daughter Brenda.
