Rene and Cheryl first met after Cheryl wrote the screenplay for The Ultimate Gift. Rene was hired to novelize the film version for Thomas Nelson Publishers.

After that, they decided to team up again on Cheryl's screenplay Never the Bride.

They enjoy working together a lot in a format that's opposite of the normal order. Usually, films are based on books. In this case, the book is based on the film script.

The film is in development to be made as a movie.
