What do HIM students and recent grads have to say?
Jamie Coptsias is a student studying Health Information Management at Brunswick Community College in Southport, North Carolina and planning to graduate this December. Even though Coptsias deals with her hearing loss daily, it doesn’t stop her from following her dream in this field. She said, “I’m glad I found this career since my hearing loss shouldn’t be an issue and it’s full of opportunities and interesting positions I would love to work in.” Coptsias says that she overcomes any obstacles related to her hearing loss by paying more attention to detail. For example, she watches every word that is said and the body language and gestures from people. HIM offers numerous career opportunities and unique daily routines which provide the environment for Coptsias to excel in a career in this field. The advice she gives to other students is to pursue all career options and to explore all opportunities that are provided within that field and to do some research before making a final decision.
