Brumberry The recommended daily intake of sodium is less than 2400mg (about 1 teaspoon of salt). According to the FDA, about 75% of our total salt intake comes from salt added to processed foods and restaurant foods. High levels of sodium can contribute to high blood pressure. This is a good reminder to keep an eye on the sodium... levels found on the "nutrition facts" label of packaged food.

Brumberry Food for Thought: Did you know the term "breakfast" means "breaking the fast?" When you are sleeping, you are actually fasting because you are not eating for a long period of time. Thus, you "break the fast" when you have something to eat in the morning.

Brumberry Are you feeling a little nutty with the holidays around the corner? Try some walnuts; they can help lower your LDL cholesterol ("bad" cholesterol). Walnuts are a great addition to salads, oatmeal and even pizza! I love pear, walnut and arugula pizza – Yum!
