Words @ Play is an after school program that happens in 10 citywide parks. Its a collaboration between the Chicago Park District and the Chicago Humanities Festival. Young people ages 8 to 13 spend time with professional poets in parks every week for an hour and a half and learn about the joys of poetry and the power of expression. Many of the poems the youth write will be showcased in a performance piece presented during the Childrens Humanities Festival by the critically-acclaimed theater …
