Our annual Gapers Block Party is finally here! And this year it's bigger and better than ever -- we're taking over the Metro!

Friday, Sept. 4, head to 3730 N. Clark St. for our killer lineup featuring Nikki Lynette, The Hood Internet, Blane Fonda (featuring ex-members of The Sapiens) and Panda Riot. We have some other f...un stuff planned, including a photo booth, found imagery slideshow and more!

Doors open at 8pm. Best of all, the show is FREE if you get in before 9:30pm! Tickets are just $6 after 9:30pm or in advance through Metro website or ticket office. Look forward to seeing you there!

Hey! Friday, March 27 is our monthly GB Get-Together, and this time the beer is free! Come to Emmit's Pub</a>, 495 N. UPDATE: In case you missed it, Eamon Daly will be performing the final lift in his Things My Beard Can Lift fundraiser -- picking up a 50-pound kid with only his beard! Get there early to watch the lift (should be around 8:15pm) and meet Daly -- perhaps challenge him to additional lifts of smaller weights for additional donations? -- throughout the evening.Read More

It's time for the monthly Gapers Block Get-Together, and this month we've got more than usual in store!

First, artist Mike Genovese [http://genovesestudios.com] is opening his studio in the pedway underneath the <a href="http://www.chicagoculturalcenter.org">Chicago Cultural Center</a>, 78 E. Washington St., to GB read...ers from 5pm to 7pm Friday night. To get there, take the elevator down one floor from the lobby where the cafe is, or by entering from the street via the stairwell on the corner of Michigan and Randolph. We'll check out his works in progress and you'll be able to get involved in his current project, which involves etching thoughts onto metal plates.

Later, join us for the GB Get-Together at Phaiz Gallery [http://www.phaizchicago.com/], 673 N. Milwaukee Ave., from 8pm to 11pm, where we'll be checking out "It's Pop It's Art," a show that features art by Genovese as well as Hit+Run, Retna, Ethos, Garrett Morin and Cody Hoyt. There will be complimentary wine from Black Swan Wines of Australia, DJ Lapple Pietunes spinning, limited edition prints from the show and a raffle benefiting Rock the Vote.
