The Great Books Foundation What's Sin Got to Do With It? An Even Deadlier Book Launch Tomorrow Night!

An Even Deadlier Book Launch
Location:STOP SMILING storefront in Wicker Park
Time:6:30PM Wednesday, December 9th
The Great Books Foundation

The Great Books Foundation We are fascinated by sin. We are drawn to it, even when we know it's wrong. We want to be good, but we are always tempted to be bad. And so, we need the concept of sin to keep us on the straight and narrow.

Join us for an amusing tongue-in-cheek lecture on what the seven deadly sins are all about and celebrate the publi...cation of EVEN DEADLIER (www.7deadlies.com), a new anthology published by The Great Books Foundation. Even Deadlier is a sequel to The Seven Deadly Sins Sampler and includes 14 MORE short story masterpieces that spark reflection on the ancient concept of sin.

The event features Al Gini, who wrote the prefaces to both Even Deadlier and The Seven Deadly Sins Sampler. Gini is a professor of business ethics at Loyola University Chicago and the author of several books, including The Importance of Being Lazy and Why It's Hard to Be Good. He can be heard regularly on National Public Radio's Chicago affiliate, WBEZ-FM.

Why does it often feel good to do something bad? In a world where we are encouraged to indulge, splurge, live a little—even visit “Sin City”—has the ancient religious concept of sin lost its sway over the moral imagination?

It looks great. Still, I am wondering is there any deep symbolism? Is the logo trying to suggest that the Great Books are for the entire world? That's how I read it.
