(Edited post) The hits just keep on coming. It's gratifying to us that so much of the debate about Chicago's 2010 budget has been focused on the city's recycling plan...or lack of one. City Council is weighing in--and it's not pretty. 9th Ward Alderman Anthony Beale wants to throw the baby out with the bath water. Chec...k the previous post for links. Thank you for your support. Mayor Daley defends potential recycling cut backs in yesterday's Sun-Times story. CRC President Mike Nowak's comments are included in the piece. Interestingly, his quotes came from an interview for another story LAST WEEK. It's nice to know that SOMETHING is being recycled in Chicago, even if it's only Mike's Words. Chicago Recycling Coalition Wow! We have added 60 fans in less than a week! Thank you to all of you who care recycling in Chicago. But we have much to do. The 2010 budget will soon be discussed at City Council. Until Chicago has a viable recycling plan, the city's "green" reputation is a sham. Please continue to encourage your Chicago friends to become fans of the CRC. We'll keep you posted. Again, thanks for you support!

Do you live in Chicago? Do you know people who do? Do you think recycling is important? The CRC believes that Chicago cannot be considered a "green" city if it can't get its recycling act together. We suffered through the Blue Bag fiasco for 17 years, and now we're being told to be patient while our recyclables pile u...p in landfills. Enough! contact your Chicago friends on Facebook and get them to be fans of CRC.Read More

"The City That Won't" strikes again! Mayor Richard Daley's budget for 2010 is being released and it looks as if the city is not only planning to suspend the roll out of Blue Carts, but may even cut back recycling pickup to once every THREE weeks. Read the story in today's Chicago Sun-Times. This will leave some 360,000... homes without curbside recycling. And that doesn't even take into account high-rise residences and businesses! CRC Fans, it's time to write to the mayor, your alderman and your favorite blog and/or print editor. We need easy, efficient and comprehensive recycling in Chicago!Read More
