Chicago Recycling Coalition It is now possible to recycle expanded polystyrene (styrofoam) in the Chicago area...even if it's not particularly convenient to everybody. The first recycling site of its type in Illinois just opened in Aurora. While we're happy to see ANY effort to get styrofoam out of the landfills, one lonesome facility is unlikely... to make a dent in EPS disposal throughout Chicagoland. This might work for bulk collectors of EPS, but individuals are left out, unless you live in or near Aurora.

Chicago Recycling Coalition Do you live in Chicago? Do you know people who do? Do you think recycling is important? The CRC believes that Chicago cannot be considered a "green" city if it can't get its recycling act together. We suffered through the Blue Bag fiasco for 17 years, and now we're being told to be patient while our recyclables pile u...p in landfills. Enough! contact your Chicago friends on Facebook and get them to be fans of CRC.

Chicago Recycling Coalition "The City That Won't" strikes again! Mayor Richard Daley's budget for 2010 is being released and it looks as if the city is not only planning to suspend the roll out of Blue Carts, but may even cut back recycling pickup to once every THREE weeks. Read the story in today's Chicago Sun-Times. This will leave some 360,000... homes without curbside recycling. And that doesn't even take into account high-rise residences and businesses! CRC Fans, it's time to write to the mayor, your alderman and your favorite blog and/or print editor. We need easy, efficient and comprehensive recycling in Chicago!
