Local Wine Co
Did you know that the Column Still was patented in 1831 by a guy named Coffey? This utterly changed the landscape of distilled spirits, paving the way for cleaner and higher alcohol liquers. Some might argue we've lost a bit of quality and pizzazz.

Local Wine Co Australian wines still on the decline: http://business.smh.com.au/business/drop-in-wine-sales-leads-to-funding-cut-20090831-f592.html
This has been the writing on the wall for several years. Unfortunately for those extremely talented winemakers and wineries in Australia, they've been brow beaten because of a bloom of inexpensive wines without regionality or terroir that were so heavily promoted abroad.

Source: business.smh.com.au
DESPITE Australian winemakers' need for support to combat the effects of the global financial crisis on sales, the budget of the Federal Government agency Wine Australia is being slashed in line with falls in grapes harvested and export values.

"Longer term, we believe US alcoholic beverage demand will rise, with most of the growth generated from new product activity and penetration into developing regions abroad. We believe the likely outcome of these trends will be a continuation of consolidation for the global alcoholic beverage group, as companies look to... build economies of scale and global capabilities, as well as improve pricing flexibility."
