THE GREAT TURKEY CHASE. You know you're going to be lying flat out after the big meal so try to get in some exercise that morning. Go for a walk in the woods, a nearby park or just chase the chickins around the yard. After all, it's why we had 'em - to keep us in shape, no?:)

Heard about a conference on Childhood Obesity being held yesterday (Fri 11/21/09) and decided to go see if I could let the learned crowd in on what the "grass-roots" crowd was doing :) Not sure that I reached anyone in a real way...but the speakers were pretty interesting - gotta say the guy from the National Institut...e of Health made me feel like I lived on another planet called "stupid-topia" but what I could follow was pretty interesting. The focus was pretty much on research, funding for research and data gathering. I certainly hope it will effectively trickle down into practicle solutions for communities.
IF you are so inclined to have an effect in your community NOW then get involved in something. Volunteer with your school or other organization that teach children about healthy eating or exercise. Operation Frontline & Girls on the Run are two great ones to check out. (google 'em)
