Did you know?
There are 394,000 disabled people under the age of 16 in the UK with 100,000 of them having more than one disability. There is no statutory right for young people with disabilities to be provided with the equipment they need by the Government or the NHS.
We deal directly with disabled young people or their parents or legal guardians
We will help fund any item of equipment, however specific it may be, if it will help the child to reach their potential We work together with other charities, so can often co-fund when necessary.
We will help any young person, regardless of their condition or disability, up to the age of 25.
We will help a young person resident anywhere in the UK, including Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands.
We aim to deal with all applications within 28 days of receiving a fully completed application.
If you think we may be able to help please call us.

Children Today give grants for a wide range of equipment for children and young people with disabilities, that are not funded through the NHS. These include powered, manual and sports wheelchairs, specially adapted tricycles, bicycles, buggies and walking aids as well as specially designed sensory equipment such as Fibre Optic Sprays.

Children Today has three main aims:
To raise funds to provide grants for special equipment for disabled children and young people
To raise awareness of the difficulties faced by young people and their families in accessing special equipment that will raise the quality of their lives
To inform of the need for better services and provision for children and young people with disabilities.

We work hard to ensure that the service we provide for disabled children and their families is as accessible and as wide-ranging as possible.

How We Help
An essential piece of equipment can make the world of difference to a child’s quality of life, helping in a range of practical, functional and social situations.

Children Today relies on voluntary donations. Funds donated by our supporters enable us to provide grants to purchase special equipment such as:
Electric wheelchairs – individually adapted to give maximum independence
Walking Aids
Trikes
Educational toys – specially designed for children with disabilities
A wide range of communication aids
Adapted car seats
Lifting and posturepaedic sleep equipment

These items and many more specialist aids are designed to improve and enhance the lives of children and young people with disabilities, helping them to become as independent as possible and to reach their potential.
