Hello Chitra

I am a fan of your books. You are coming to Raleigh and i cannot believe i am going to be seeing you. Your palace of Illusions was such a great book. Hope i get to say hello to you. I am a crazy reader and work in my dream job at the Wake County Public Libraries. We would love to host you sometime since we ...have a huge fan following for your books. I have yet to my masters in Library science but i came to this country very late and did not know that my reading passion would land me this job. Any way keep writing. One of my books for my book club was the Queen of Dreams and what a discussion we had. Keep writing

Dear Chitraji,
I have come to Germany on a scholarship to write my Ph.D thesis on Christa Wolfs Kassandra and Shashi Deshpandes "The stone women", though my choice for Shashi Deshpande happened due to time constraints solely, and I was actually looking for a book that would be comparable with Christa Wolfs "Kassandra". ...While travelling in Germany I got hold of your book "Palast der Hoffnung" and was happy that the universe does work out things for us. I dont know whether you have read "Kassandra" or Cassandra in english, but if u do, u will realize the great coincidential similiarity between your books. I think I have decided to take up your book as one of my primary works. Would love to have an interview and interactions with you on mythological writings of yours.Read More

Brooklynn

Brooklynn I just read "Arranged Marriage" for one of my college classes. Absolutely beautiful. I couldn't put it down. I am from Yuba City, CA, so I had been to or recognized nearly all of the places the stories were set in, which was pretty exciting to me ; ) Pretty silly, huh?

Giusy

Giusy I read the mistress of spices...fantastic book! :)

Parameshwari Sircar

Parameshwari Sircar Hello Ma'am,
i just wanted to say that i love your books because of their mystical quality and enigma. my favourites are Arranged Marriage, Sister of My Heart and the Palace of Illusions among others. I've always been an admirer of Draupadi and the latter work inspired me to write my Masters dissertation on her.
Thank you Ma'am.
Best wishes,
Parameshwari.

Bill Murray

Bill Murray On April 4th of 2008, I wrote this poem ans I wanted to share it with you (p.s. I love your writing):

Summertime

Will it be like 1,001 Arabian nights?

With magic carpet rides and a djinni granting

Wishes from a lantern?

Summertime

Bring your tiny mirrors
Embroidered in chiffon saris and satin

And take me

From the Island of Manhattan

Something like the story of Aladdin

Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni

Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni Hello Piyasree, I recently read & enjoyed How to Paint a Dead Man, by Sarah Hall, a British writer. I was impressed by her language, her use of detail, her creation of voice, and the way she intertwines 4 separate story lines to create a novel. The relationship between the 4 is a mystery at first, but all come together in the end. I learned a lot.
