Chris McIntosh Here is my story from today on a 188 year old family Bible with alot of historical significance attached to it! The Bible was donated to the Sullivan County Archive and is being preserved there.

Awesome story Chris! Question though, if it was from Tipton Haynes farm, how did it end up in Sullivan county? Shouldn't it have gone to Washington county? Just curious.

The Bible was donated by someone who had it in Sullivan County, other than that I don't know how it ended up there.

Chris McIntosh I am in-house working on a project, and I need input from everyone of my friends on Facebook...I asked this question before, and would like any input you may have: "Does Johnson City need a second High School in addition to Science Hill?" Send me your opinion, and I may use it on an upcoming story!

Yes. When we moved back everyone advised us on how great JC Elem. schools are- and they are. But I didn't want my boys going to SC. Too big. So we ended up moving to the county, paid for private schools last year and this year are in the county. Hoping to eventually get into University High. But, while SC is a good school, it's just too big for my family.

Chris, your question asks about "need". Honestly, one day it should be divided, perhaps, if the city grows significantly more, but the cost of doing so now is prohibitive since we have already spend vast sums expanding capacity and upgrading facilities.....unless the city takes over the operation of University School and expands the offerings ... See Morethere. Otherwise, in my humble opinon, it's a useless debate at this time. Many may want to do so, but I am certain a number much less than that are willing to step up to the plate and pay the freight to make it happen. The enrollment in the county high schools is not much less than the 10-12 campus at Science Hill, I don't think. Science Hill is probably a little more, but not as much as everyone wants to believe. I think the 10-12 campus has about 1500 or slightly over........but that's going off memory from some old figures I had while on the planning commission.

Good riddance. That intersection is deadly, mainly because so many of the people in Jonesborough can't drive. God help us when a traffic circle is introduced. It'll be pandalerium! But at least the circle will slow traffic enough that the collisions won't be as violent as they are now.

They need to use the area where the old National Guard Armory is to build another high school. That land is going to waste in my opinion.
