Want to know where the Ciclismo Story began? Many moons ago Windsor Mountain International Camp hired me to be a bike tour guide to lead teenagers from NH to Cape Cod. Next they hired me to design & co-lead a 6 week bike tour from Rome to Paris. It was (and still is) the hardest job I ever loved. Want your kids to expe...rience a summer camp like no other in the world? Check out Windsor Mountain, now in their 50th year! I love this place and so will YOU!Read More

Did you know that the Mayor of DC, Adrian Fenty is 50% Italian (from his mother's side)? He has also brought some quality events into DC, like the Dextro Energy ITU World Championship series for triathlon. I think he has it in him to make this happen!!

Of course then there is Signor Menino di Bostonia who is trying to make Boston one of the Country's Great Cycling Cities. He has got a long way to go but Italian Men in Pink sprinting through the North End lauded by their Paesani might just rock this shake this town into shape.

Ciclismo Classico Vicki Wadlow: OK, all of those people who are Ciclismo Classico alums: we (me, husband, sister in law--all over sixty) are taking the trip from Venice to bologna in April 2010. We are all relatively fit. My husband and I ride outside and take spinning classes, yoga and strength train 6 days a week. What should we be doing to get ready? Any tips about what to bring? Thanks in advance. We are really excited!!

Vicki you sound like you are doing all the right things! Bravisima! My best advice is to build your endurance and strength and not worry at all about speed. Spinning is great to strengthen your legs, teach you cadence, gearing and technique but because you are usually only spinning for 90 minutes you will need to get out on the road to apply your ... Read Moregreat fitness prep to the open road. On our tours we are on and off our saddles most of the day so it is a good idea to mimic a tour day. Pick your favorite 25-40 mile route and take it a leisurely pace. Start out in the morning by stretching, getting your bike and gear ready and reviewing your day. Then take a few hours to stop, smell the roses, take lots of pictures, sip a cappuccino or two and definitely pick a nice lunch spot along the way. How does that sound? While riding, cycle as safely and attentively as you can. To experience the skills needed for riding with a group, you might want to hook up with a bike club like the Potomac Pedalers http://www.bikepptc.org/ Call us if you need to!
