Hi! It's been a while since I got back, but this summer I was able to go to Washington, D.C. and intern with the U.S. Marshals! I interned through The Washington Center where I was set up with housing and took a class at night once a week. I worked about 35 hours a week and had weekends to explore! I lived in Alexand...ria, VA, which was beautiful! My goal was to see all of the Smithsonean museums and I saw all but TWO! After I graduate, I plan to go back to DC and VA, I love it so much! Jen helped me with this a lot, so if you're interested in an internship, TWC takes ALL majors and Washington is AWESOME!

Hola,
Thanks to the grant I received from the University Honors Program I was able to go to Mexico and study the legal structure of the Mexican government and the Spanish culture. Four students participated in this event. We arrived in Leon on September 6th and took a taxi to Guanajuato which was by far my favorite cit...y. It was a very Europeanized city. We also visited Dolores Hidalgo, San Miguel de Allende, Zimapan, and finally to Queretaro where we stayed for the remaining 9 days. On this trip we studied Spanish at OLE http://www.ole.edu.mx/, we stayed with a home stay family, attended a bull fight, and a cock fight, toured the government buildings of Mexico, met with two different lawyers who discussed the legal system of Mexico and how it differs from the U.S., and we celebrated their Independance Day on September 16th which also happens to be the day that we left. I had an amazing time and it is definitely an experience that I will never forget. I have attached some pictures for those that are interested. Thank you to all the UC personel that made this possible for me. Everyone should experience a international traveling because it is a completely different experience.
By the way, Mexico is the friendliest country I have visted. They would go out of their way to help you out especially when they realized that you were a beginner to their language. Mexico was so pretty and so colorful, which is nothing like I thought it would be like. I encourage all of you to travel to Mexico despite what you hear and see on the news.Read More
