Claire Allan Jumping in Puddles is Book of the Month in Ulster Tatler (December edition) -- and what a corker of a review it is too! Although Jumping in Puddles is only Claire Allan's third novel, it expertly showcases her natural talent for writing. From the opening pages, her prose is captivating, whilst its characteristic fluidity creates an effortless and delightful read.

I've recently heard about a very fabulous organisation who make big cuddly toys (really big, the blue Whale is mahoosive) and well, everyone loves cuddly toys - don't they? Especially at this time ...

Claire Allan latest line from book 4: Your ass is fine. I would kill to have an ass like that. If Argos made a catalogue solely of asses, yours would be the one I would choose. J-Lo wants your ass, it’s so gorgeous. There are knickers in this world whose sole ambition in life is to be on your ass. I don’t get how you can’t see that

You know how every now and again I go a little mad. And that, true to the name of this blog sometimes I am a bit of a madzer. (Which is my new favourite word thanks to Marian Keyes’ ‘Brighest Star in the Sky’ gdansk...)Well some days I’m more mad than others. ...

I couldn't help but laugh at that - you really are the next Marian Keyes...honest to God! :o) Gdansk, madzer....that book was brilliant!
You WILL get that book finished though...deadlines are the worst thing ever - i know all too well with assignments and the like, impending exams which cause a helluva lot of stress...but i guarantee you, you'll get that book in on time, and you'll look back thinking, what was all the fuss about?? And you're far from a madzer! ;o) xxx

Claire Allan blogs about how finishing a book is like that really icky stage of childbirth http://diaryofamadmammy.blogspot.com/2009/11/there-comes-stage.html

diaryofamadmammy.blogspot.com
... towards the end of every book, when you almost completely lose the will to live.I liken this stage - when you are a mere coupla thousand words from the end - to transition (that delightful stage in the labouring process when you want to lie on the floor and cry while screaming "I can't do it.......
