Twinwood Festival incorporating the Glenn Miller Festival of Swing, Jazz & Jive. 29th 30th & 31st August 2009 at Twinwood Arena, Clapham, Bedfordshire.
Hosted by John Miller, Terry Elliott, & Strollin’ Steve, this years fantastic line up at Twinwood includes: The John Miller Orchestra, Mike Sanchez Band, The Jive Aces, ...Sticky Wicket & his Swing Orchestra - featuring Serena Howard Douglas, Chris Smith & His String of Pearls Orchestra, The Midland All Stars Big Band, Lola Lamour, Jim McAllister - The Voice of Sinatra, Kings Cross Hot Club, Big Boy Bloater, Peter Donegan & The Lonnie Donegan Band, The Kremlinaires, The Swing Commanders, KingCats, Oo-Bop-Sh’bam, The Metrotones, Juke Joint Jump, Ricky Cool & The Hoola Boola Boys, Sentinels Of Rhythm, Ding Dong Daddios, Salvation Army Brass Band & more still to be announced.
As well as the fantastic bands, we also have our Dance Marquee, with all-day dance lessons & workshops. The popular evening 1940s Hangar Dances with Chris Reynolds Swing Shift, and the Superb 1950s Record Hop, with Strollin’ Steve. The Tin Hat Club, with Mick Wilson’s Memphis Belle Record Hop every day, and Ricardo Gazzini, the Jazz man in the evening. Every day there will be a WWII Air display, and there are lots of traders, exhibitors, shows, and museums to visit throughout the weekend. Tickets can be bought either for single days, up to the full weekend package with camping. Twinwood Arena is a lovely venue, at a unique & historic site. On New Years Eve we are holding a vintage style party. The band is Juke Joint Jump, special guest vocalist is Laura B, and DJ Strollin' Steve. There will be a really fantastic party atmosphere. Twinwood is a memorable place to see out 2008 and welcome in 2009. A hot buffet is included in the ticket price.

On December 13th is the Glenn Miller Celebration Dance, with Chris Reynolds Swing Shift (1940s music specialist DJ) We will be celebrating the life and music of Glenn Miller, who disappeared from RAF Twinwood Airfield on December 15th 1944. There will be a festive atmosphere, and it will be a great pre-Christmas party ...night for those who love to dance, and even those who prefer to sit back and watch the experts do it

Although just three years old, Rhythm Festival is fast becoming one of Europe's most prestigious outdoor music events. In 2007 Rhythm Festival was put forward for an unprecedented five categories in the UK Festival Awards! In its seventh year, this nostalgic annual Swing, Jazz, Jive & Rock 'n' Roll music festival is now regarded by many as by far the best retro music festival in the country! Word has spread globally and many of our regular visitors come back each year from the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and from all over Europe ...to attend the Twinwood Festival. It is held at the stunning location of The Historic RAF Twinwood Airfield and Twinwood Arena, near Bedford, where Glenn Miller took his last flight. The emphasis is on nonstop, high quality music from many top Orchestras and artistes performing the great hits from the big band, swing and Jive era and for 2008 will also feature an additional brand new ‘50s stage which will add a new dimension to the festival, whilst not taking anything away from what has earned the festival its reputation.
