UWA Extension Todd Sampson is the CEO of Leo Burnett Sydney, one of Australia's top creative advertising agencies. He is well known for his appearances on the hit ABC TV show The Gruen Transfer and features regularly on Channel Ten's 7PM Project. Todd is the co-creator of the international Earth Hour initiative and was ranked as the... most influential advertising executive in Australia by the Australian Financial Review. Outside of work he enjoys mountain climbing and has completed an unguided ascent to the top of Mount Everest. In this talk, Todd will explore the concept of ideas and how they impact on us as individuals. From little ideas, big actions grow. $34

UWA Extension Celebrate the rich and joyful African heritage of spiritual music, drumming and dance in the magnificent Winthrop Hall with the UWA Extension Summer School Choir, led by Dr Margaret Pride. Join MC Kwame Selormey on a musical journey into Africa as the Choir sings soul, spirituals and traditional Southern African songs.... Enjoy food for the spirit and a feast for the senses with the Burundi Peace Choir; and don't miss international opera star Ruby Philogene as she joins the choir and performs solo. Experience the upbeat tribal energy of the Afrotonic Summer School Dancers, and the musical heartbeat of the Akwaaba Summer School Drummers. Concert seating is reserved. UWA Extension General Peter Cosgrove (Retired), one time Chief of the Defence Force and Australian of the Year first became well known as Commander of the International Force in East Timor (INTERFET) in 1999 and 2000. General Cosgrove traded in khaki for a corporate uniform when he retired from the military after more than 40 years ...of service in 2005. Still a familiar figure in the media and writer of a best-selling memoir, the 2009 Boyer Lectures gave him an opportunity to share his views widely. In acknowledging the continuing and growing opportunities for a resource wealthy nation such as Australia, this talk focuses on social and demographic challenges and opportunities in maintaining the momentum of the resource boom, foundation to our prosperity. $10
