The Clark Fork Watershed Education Program (CFWEP) has been a leading provider of environmental and restoration education programs and services in western Montana since 2005. The Clark Fork River links the largest contiguous complex of federal Superfund sites in the U.S. Ecosystems and communities in the area have been heavily impacted by historic mining and smelting wastes. Hundreds of millions of dollars will be spent to restore the health of the river and the basin.

Based at the Montana Tech Technical Outreach Department in Butte, the CFWEP works with schools, teachers, community groups, government agencies, and the general public to provide education and information about the environmental history of western Montana's largest river basin, and about the ongoing restoration of the river system, one of the largest environmental restoration projects ever undertaken.
The largest Superfund site in the U.S. also serves as a showcase for environmental understanding, and how damaged ecosystems can be restored. (read less)
