The Framemaker Morphology is a series about beauty and death. It is an observation of the visual marvels of creatures that were once full of life, but now lie motionless beneath a loupe. This series is a reminder of the ephemeral yet beautiful nature of life.

The Framemaker Snapshots is a series of digital photographs by Greg Sand. This work uses subtle manipulations and the nature of photography to explore reality, perception, time, and death. These personal anxieties manifest themselves in old family snapshots--the mementos of past times and lives

The Framemaker
Painting, drawing, mark-making is something I do to bring order to my otherwise chaotic and over-stimulated existence. It’s my calming grasp on reality. I strive for a certain balance in my work, imposing a certain amount of control over the end product while at the same time respecting and nurturing intuitive flow.... It has always been this balancing act, “the process”, that seemed to inspire my creative energy. The product of this energy, my motivation.
My artwork is often full of bright colors, patterns and rhythms emulating the energy of my physical and emotional world. My work is often inspired by tribal markings, textile design, nature and personal experiences. In recent years my influence and inspiration comes abundantly from my children. I am forever fascinated by their images, the energy they invoke and by their insights. With pencil and paper they bring order to their ever-flowing imaginations. With paint on canvas they work out the feelings that they have no words for.
In observing and working alongside my children my passion for process has been reignited. I’ve become even more aware of and in awe of the healing nature of “the process”. There is a catharsis about the expression and introspection that can be achieved with color, mark making, and material manipulation. Emotions can be released where there are no words for expression. It is in this healing release that I’ve found purpose. My purpose, the purpose of my work, is not simply to express that which I have no words but to extend this means of healing to others.Read More
