“The Principles of Classical Portraiture”
What makes a good portrait? Is it all luck? Is it intuitive? Can you sell it?
Can you compare your work to the master portrait painters?
Paul follows tried and true, simple concepts of composition, lighting, and effectiv...e expressions to create effective portraits. Over 40 years experience (OMG) has given Tumason insight into the psychology of posing subjects for a portrait. By being aware of general errors in composition, the subjects’ likes and dislikes about the way they look in photographs, knowledge of classical portraiture, and observations from daily living, are all a part of his recipe for good portraiture.
Paul Tumason is a portrait photographer in San Jose. A graduate from San Jose State University with a B.S. degree in Industrial Technology in 1965, Paul also served as an officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve for 12 years, starting as a photo interpreter. He also worked as a professional musician during and after college. Paul is married to Kathy and they have 5 grown kids. He first opened a photography studio in 1972 in downtown San Jose.
