This past Friday I attended the 2009 Transgender Day of Remembrance. This past year alone over 120 transgendered people and some allies (only 99 could be identified due to the some of the disfigurement involved) where killed all over the world. This does include those not yet found or suicides. I attended this event fo...r an assignment and left as a committed ally. Words can not due justice to how moved I was by the expression of grief, sadness, laughter, and hope. Next year I hope to stand with more of my fellow students from MSASS. I also hope that MSASS will contribute sponsorship, like CSU did.Read More

As people grow older, do they really lose intelligence or is something else happening that lowers their IQ scores over time? Dr. Gilmore's research found that the competence of older adults is better than their performance.
This lecture proves the critical role that vision plays in cognitive competence. The desired out...come is to create an awareness of such changes so that older people and/or their caretakers, particularly in cases of Alzheimer’s Disease, take steps to accommodate their visual deficits.
