Aries is a UK based Drum & Bass, Jungle and Dubstep DJ and Producer. Aries has been enjoying Breakbeat/Techno/Rave music since 1991 and hasn’t looked back since. He was immediately hooked by the fresh sounds and new music that stood out from anything else he had heard before. Still at school and to young to go out to R...aves he got his fix buying tape packs which soon progressed to DJing, pirate radio, event promotion and writing the music itself. After being involved in the early nineties pirate radio scene it was through promoting with friends Lifted in 1996 that his DJ career really started to take off and in 1998 the DJ partnership with Benny who ran the local record shop was formed. They both play out individually and together. With Aries doing Jungle and Dubstep on his own also. Aries & Benny have been residents for Break Thru (formerly Prosession and Autumn) in Birmingham since 2000 and now the new dubstep offshoot EarDrum, Aries promotes his own event’s with friend’s Solution & Jinx ‘Above & Beyond‘ & ‘Pure Vibez’ . Aries & Benny are regulars on the UK DJ circuit and have played many events across the world including Compression (San Francisco, USA), J.U.N.G.L.E (Leuven, BELGIUM), Jungle Business (Belgrade, SERBIA), Rekyl (Stockholm, SWEDEN), Break Storm (Barcelona, SPAIN), Atomic Jam, House of God, BBC 1xtra LIVE, Glastonbury Festival, Flashback, Movement (London), Fixed (Birmingham), Transmission (Leeds), Accelerated Culture, Pyro Radio, Raveology, Innovation, Breakin Science, Break Out (Bristol) and many more. (Euro tour in May 09) Aries has been producing music for just over a decade but more seriously over the past 7 years. the first outing on vinyl was in April 2005 on Co-Lab Recordings (owned by DJ partner Benny & Heist) with the heavily supported “Herbsmoke” which was championed by Bailey and even made it onto BBC Radio 1 and the daytime play list of BBC’s 1XTRA. (as did ”Brother and Sister’‘ on Roots Records) It was around this time that Shy FX became aware of his music and asked for a promo of Herbsmoke and gave support with a handful of tracks .Aries takes his name from his star sign and his main influences are Roots and Dub Reggae which will come as no surprise if you listen to his music or have heard him play out. His music is unique and offers soul and depth that not only makes people think and listen but holds its weight and has maximum impact on the dance floor. Also released on vinyl is “Nuff Reggae Music” (Played by Zane Lowe BBC Radio 1) on Visionary’s Lion Dubs label (002), ”Just Like The Rain” on Lion Dubs (005) and ”Skankin Dub” on Lion Dubs (004).
