Coffs Harbour Geek Radio (CHGRadio) is an ongoing internet radio project that started in 2005, went off the internet air waves in 2006-2007, to finally return better then ever in 2008.
Conceived, Invented, Planned, Created, Produced Co-Ordinated and Operated by Quincy The Quince Man Belmont, CHGRadio is an attempt to provide as many people as possible with an alternative type of internet radio station. Internet Radio for the Rest of Us. That is to say that, CHGRadio, is an internet radio station for the rest of us; whom are sick of the over commercialized already existing stations (internet and terrestrial). Having said that, CHGRadio is not without it’s advertisements. With the help of many other people, it is thanks to them, that CHGRadio is back again today.
CHGRadio is NOT a non profit organisation, however this project is also NOT a money spinner. We’re in this to have fun and listen to our favorite tunes.
CHGRadio’s audio network is powered by some fantastic software created by the programming nerds at Spacial Audio. Coupled with a linux server hosted by RoyceSoftware and Nullsofts Shoutcast Server, CHGRadio is finally ready to hit the big time (well at least attempt to). Our website is hosted by RoyceSoftware and CHGRadio is both sponsored and affiliated with both RoyceSoftware and AdvanceIT.
CHGRadio’s live broadcasts originate from the location of the announcer. The software we use allows volunteers and others who wish to take part in CHGRadio to do so from the comfort of their own homes, without the need to travel. Use the contact page if you are interested in joining the team. There are no special personal requirements at all. No experience necessary! What you do need is a broadband internet connection (256kbps up stream at least), a computer with a Mic and some music to play (at least one hours worth). We will provide you with the necessary software and help you get it setup and working with our network.
Having said all that, we hope that you enjoy everything that CHGRadio has to offer. It’s taken a long time to get CHGRadio back off the ground again. We still consider this project to be in it’s infancy, so check our website and listen in to our station regularly to keep apprised of competitions, updates, improvements, additions and more!
