Welcome to the University of Maryland's Observatory webpages! Here you'll find information about our programs and observing in College Park.

UM Observatory Open House on Friday night... a little nervous as we've been packed at the Open Houses this semester...

UM Observatory So, did you go out to observe the Leonids last night/this morning? Are you going out tonight? How was it?? Where did you go?? Tell us your observing adventures!

UM Observatory Well, I listed the event as a slumber party and I think we were all wishing that we had slumbered! I think it was just a wee bit too light polluted so we didn't see the faint meteors.... and then it got hazy with clouds moving in and out... Was out there till 4am! Elizabeth did get a photo of one meteor... We did get to meet alot of fans (!)...

UM Observatory Clear (although it may be a little foggy in the area), cool, in the mid-40s... Are we ready for observing the Leonids tonight??

UM Observatory So many new fans!! Cool! So, who is going to go out to watch the Leonids?? And where?? (For those of you in the DC area who don't want to drive far, remember, my gates will be open on Monday night... see the upcoming event, please RSVP.)

UM Observatory And we thought it would never be sunny again!

UM Observatory National Capital Astronomers mtg tonight at 7:30pm.

UM Observatory Observing the Leonids at the UM Observatory Mon 16 Nov ... gate opens at 9:30pm... (See the event details and let me know if you can come or not)
