Two New Species of Reptiles Found at the Soltis CenterAs field observations have continued, two new species of reptiles have been identified in the area surrounding the Soltis Center. The above pictures confirm the presence of the Sock headed Snake (Enuliophis sclateri) and the Canopy Lizard (Polychrus gutturosus). Bot...h species are harmless to humans and reclusive which makes them difficult to find. The Sock-Headed Snake is terrestrial and loses its tail easily when threatened. On average the snake reaches about 90cm in length and is oviparous. The Canopy Lizard is a diurnal and arboreal species found particularly in rainforests. This species has an extremely long tail that may be as much as three times the size of the body. This species eats mostly insects but also eats plant material like leaves, fruits and seeds.Read More
