Becky Long Hey everyone-- we're working hard right now to get strong flows to protect the Dominguez-- it is a great concept that could become a model for the state! Good Opinion piece on it today- that we're working to follow up on- there have been some other filings that do go above and beyond traditional flows! http://www.gjsen...tinel.com/opinion/articles/future_may_be_clear_for_doming

Colorado Environmental Coalition Tomorrow Colorado's Senate will vote to increase the state's Renewable Energy to 30% by 2020 and create tens of thousands of new, green, long-term jobs in Colorado. Out-of-state special interests are attempting to influence Senators to vote against this bill. Today is your last chance to tell your Senator to vote for HB1001.

Earlier this week we got some great news: Shell Oil released a statement saying that it will be abandoning its quest for a major water right on the Yampa river. One of the last free flowing rivers in the west, the Yampa is not only a tie to Colorado’s past but one of our best hopes [...]

Shell's action is short term relief. As long as state water law remains the same, another entity can come along to claim the water. WHO WILL THAT ENTITY BE? Friend, or foe?

Do you have in your "tool box" something akin to a conservation easement, to make sure the water stays where it should?

Becky Long Great news for the Yampa this week- a major water right filing that could have significantly changed the river permanently. This week Shell Oil Co., announced that they are not going to continue seeking this water right!

Although, given that global petroleum production will peak within 10-15 years, and U.S. oil production has been gradually declining for three decades, we should be judiciously using what fossil fuels remain to transition to the coming post-peak world. Reining in auto-dependent sprawl and investing in better transit alternatives would be a good start. So where are we with Front-Range rail service, anyway? All I see is cars and more cars ...
