Team in the Leadoff:
Alabama, No. 6 Louisianan-Lafayette, No. 8 Michigan, No. 9 Northwestern, No. 13 Houston, No. 15 DePaul, No. 19 LSU, No. 20 Virginia Tech and No. 22 Georgia. Alabama, Louisiana-Lafayette and Virginia Tech all appeared in the 2008 WCWS with the Crimson Tide finishing tied for third, the Ragin’ Cajuns tied for fifth and the Hokies tied for seventh. Michigan and Northwestern tied for the 2008 Big Ten Championship, with Northwestern taking the tournament championship and both teams advancing to Super Regionals.
Three additional tournament participants, Hofstra, UMass and Mississippi State received votes in the season-opening poll, while Florida State, Georgia Tech and Long Island round out the list of 15 schools at this year’s Leadoff that appeared in the 2008 NCAA Tournament. Illinois State, Nebraska, Penn State, Ohio State, South Carolina and Southern Illinois
