History of Art Department In a departure from its traditional format, The American Council for Southern Asian Art (ACSAA) Biennial Conference will be held in conjunction with another closely related conference, entitled "New Darshans: Seeing Southern Asian Religiosity and Visuality Across Disciplines," hosted by Denison University and The Ohio ...State University. Traditional and multidisciplinary panels are intended to provide a special opportunity to highlight and futher cross-disciplinary investigation of South and Southeast Asian Art and visual cultures while fostering appreciation of varying and emergent methodologies. Multi-disciplinary scholar, Philip Lutgendorf, Professor of Hindi and Modern Indian Studies, Co-Chair, South Asian Studies Program, University of Iowa Studies will keynote the conference dinner. Rachel McDermott, Professor of Religion, Barnard College, will provide a Closing Talk. An exhibition of the extensive Burmese art and artifact collection of the Denison Museum, entitled "Baptists in Burma, " will be on view during the conference.
