National History Day in Ohio So here's a thougth about ideas for "The Individual in History." Look at slave narratives. There is a body of literature out there about former slaves telling their stories about life and escaping to freedom. Just one of these amazing stories would make for a moving History Day project. Look at someone like Charles Ball, or famously Olaudah Equiano also known as Gustavus Vassa. These bring up interesting ideas like, how did slaves help bring an end to slavery? What power did slaves hold in this system? What were the limitations of that power? Some food for thought.
