"It's a Boy !!" The Guernsey calf was born around 2:50pm Sunday Aug9th, Misty (and everybody) !. It was truly spectacular ! Mama Guernsey's water broke a little after noon Sunday, even tho she was due to deliver on Saturday. The FABULOUS OSU VET MED ASSOC docs came, checked inside her to feel the calf was okay - - - -... had his arm in side her all the way up to his arm pits . . . . after verifying the positive status of the calf, went back to get 2 chains (one for each front hoof), holding a chain in each hand, stuck his hand (while holding chain) and arm all the way back inside Mama Guernsey's birth canal up to his shoulder (times two - one for each hoof to attach the chains). Mama Guernsey was standing there with 2 long chains coming out of her vagina. They attached a harness over mama's butt that had a bar over her hind-quarters (back legs). There was a long pole (approx 8' long) then screwed onto the bar and it operated like a jack. The chains were attached to the jack.Read More

The Vets jacked the calf out by pulling the chains tought. The front hooves came out, but since the head wasnt in position, Mama's Unit sucked the calf back in. The Vets repositioned the calf's head, and started jacking again until He was delivered. After all that , once the head was out, it took about 3 seconds for th...e calf and all the afer birth to be everywhere. Check my site this week for photos, if you want.
