Erika I've ALWAYS wanted to visit here- Little Women was one of my favorite books growing up- it still is. How would get I here from the Bronx, NY? Are there any buses that run to Concord? I don't drive...

I don't know you, but I have taken the bus to NYC many times. I would suggest you take a Greyhound, or whatever from the bus terminal--they make regular trips to Boston. Once you are in Boston, you can take a shuttle or something to Concord--I know that people who raced Sunday were able to take public transportation to Concord from Boston! Hope that's helpful!

There are buses that run from NY -- Our Staff have taken Greyhound, Peter Pan, and Fung Wah (out of Chinatown).

Once you're in Boston, you'd need to get to North Station and take the Commuter Rail that heads to Fitchburg -- the Purple Line (costs $6.25). It's about a 45-minute ride to Concord and then a 15-20 minute walk from the train station (on Thoreau Street) to Orchard House (399 Lexington Road).

Dawn Tripp

Dawn Tripp I visited Orchard House on my trip up north. It was so pretty and the rooms were amazing! So many original articles from the Alcott's. It was great to see May's pencil drawings on the walls. Also the trunk of costumes that the Alcott sisters used to put on plays. I could just invision the March girls and there stories. It's truly a special place that makes you feel like you have gone back in time.

Louisa May Alcott's Orchard House Edward M. Kennedy (1932-2009) We mourn the loss of a great statesman and devoted public servant -- one who shared the concerns of the Alcotts in regard to education, child welfare, equal rights, health care, and the arts. We wish his family, friends, and colleagues peace in their time of sorrow.
