Hey
CEA- why are you trying to derail energy efficiency measures that will
save consumers money and our environment, too? What is your interest in
this?

"...a series of objectionsfrom the Consumer Electronics Association, filed in the final minutesof a 45-day public comment period, forced a delay in a process that have ale...ady gone on for nearly two years."

"It's very disappointingthat they waited until the last minute to submit their comments, and it's consistent with their ongoing efforts to derail this process,"said Noah Horowitz, senior scientist at the Natural Resources Defense Council in San Francisco. "

As NRDC has stated throughout this process, TV energy use is a significant source of energy use in the state, andwe fully support the commission's proposed efficiency standards for newTVs."

Thanks for your interest in this issue. NRDC... Read More’s assertion that CEA is trying to derail efforts at energy efficiency is simply false. Our public comments were a collective effort on behalf of the industry. We are committed to offering the most accurate and up-to-date information in order to inform the regulatory process. Such work takes an extraordinary amount of time and effort.

However, the effort was well worth it: CEA believes that our new, updated data and findings (http://ce.org/PDF/CEAcommentstoCEC.pdf) are just what the CEC (and NRDC) needs to finally understand how harmful and unnecessary these regulations could be. Alternatives exist that would save as much or more energy - without harming California's economy and industry innovation.

We are all committed to energy efficiency. This debate is about process. We simply feel that the CEC's approach will put undue harm on consumers, California's economy, small businesses and industry innovation.
