The Squiggle Sense
"In 1962, Francis Crick and James Watson won the Nobel Prize for discovering the double helix structure of DNA, surely the icon of twentieth-century biology. The beautiful structure they revealed is a biological example par excellence of dancing contraries: two spiraling strands of DNA in which each nucleotide base in ...one strand is paired with its complementary partner on the opposite strand (adenine~thymine; guanine~cytosine).
The
molecular complementarity of the double helix is astonishing and
profound, and its discovery has transformed all of biology, technology,
and medicine. Among other miracles, it means that for any part of the
nucleotide sequence, one strand can act as a template for the other
strand. Complementary base pairing is thus central to the fidelity of
copying genetic material, as well as to other processes such as the
synthesis of messenger RNA and DNA repair..."
"...One might wonder whether these two simply stated forms of coordination areall
that our coordination law is trying to explain. It might not seem like
that much on first blush. Yet, just as the secret and diversity of life
are tied to the helical arrangement of only two thin strands of DNA and
its combinations of complementary base pairs, so the secret and
diversity of coordination may lie in the numerous blends and
transitions among absolute and relative coordination.

"The division of our world (natural and
social) into distinct contraries or opposites has become almost universal
practice in most fields of human endeavor and inquiry, including science.
Undeniably, imposing such divisions on space and time, wave and particle, order
and chaos, action and perception, or organism and enviro...nment have enabled
significant progress in our scientific understanding of these separate domains.
However, understanding based on separation or contraries is fundamentally
limited, as is powerfully demonstrated by modern physics, biology and
neuroscience."

The complementary pair of physical therapy:
restriction~give
The restriction is the cause of the movement impairment, where 'give' is the symptom or where pain is. Restriction causes additional constraints in kinetic chain, causing impaired kinematics/kinetics of the joint or kinetic chain, which self-organize and result... in 'give' at the same joint or in other part of the kinetic chain, and where 'give' is, the tissue is strained or pinched and that causes pain. Thus, one must remove impaired constraints in kinematic system (restrictions) and control 'give' and allow the motor system to re-organize in normal pattern. Dealing only with restriction or give, is not using your squiggle sense. You must deal with both of them.Devamı
