Kingsway in Port Coquitlam has been closed since a MVA around 0130 Friday morning where a power pole witnesses say landed on a car after it lost control on icy roads.
BC Hydro could not give me any idea how long Kingsway would remain closed. The closure between Maple and Westwood left Port Coquitlam traffic snarled incl...uding many of the side streets it was taking traffic an extra 30 -45 mins just to get through the downtown core. There was also a large area of Poco and Coquitlam that borders Westwood with out power. Pictured crews work on the downed pole

The Coquitlam Now has started it's Annual Penny Drive for Christmas for Kid's Share last year $13,000 was raised smashing the old record. This year with 20 locations accepting donations on the paper's behalf that record should be smashed again. This hit home recently to me when I found out a family at a local school is... living along the Coquitlam River in a tent. There are lots less fortunate than us. Even a penny helps. http://www2.canada.com/coquitlamnow/news /story.html?id=0ec69603-870c-4184-9825-f 7c3e1677fd6
