Linda Wallin Illinois did that many years ago when they justified casinos by saying the money would go to education. It did, then the legislature took money out of the general fund so we ended up the same. Did they think we wouldn't notice?


Sue Kimmet I wonder whether this has happened in other states. The Montana legislature, at the urging of our governor (who calls himself a Democrat...) blind-sided Special Education here. They cut the state budget for SpEd in the same amount (or close to it) as the stimulus funds that were designated for our use. The outcome is that the money came to us, but the state funds we usually get are being used for other things. I had hoped to update my textbooks with that money. Ha!!!

Masters teachers in grad classes with me were all over and about testing in our course discussions and projects, but their exploration into its results showed that students did progress farther with frequent testing because their learning was always being assessed and teaching adjusted.
