Craft Emergency Relief Fund
Studio jeweler and author Linda Kaye-Moses and Ferrin Gallery announce a Book Release Party and benefit for the Craft Emergency Relief Fund, on 20 September 2009 from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M at the gallery at 437 North Street, Pittsfield, MA. Kaye-Moses' book Pure Silver Metal Clay Beads, was recently published by Creati...ve Publishing International. The author has taught the use of metal clay for over thirteen years,
Pure Silver Metal Clay Beads, a workshop-style book, contains fifteen (15) original projects for making fine or pure silver beads from metal clay, and presents a wealth of information on the use of metal clay. The projects, accompanied by step-by-step photos, are organized to take the reader from beginning to advanced skills. A Gallery section of original work by many well-known metal clay artists, followed by Appendices, completes the usefulness of the book. Copies of the book will be available during the event.
The event will also feature a sale of the beads described in each of the projects, all of which have been hand-knotted on strands of precious stone beads, making complete necklaces. These necklaces will be sold during the event and fifty percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Craft Emergency Relief Fund (CERF). CERF is committed to supporting the careers of craft artists throughout the United States. Through business and career-strengthening programs, emergency relief support, advocacy and research, CERF helps professional craft artists strengthen and sustain their careers so that they can thrive and, thus, contribute to the quality of life in our communities.
Metal clay is an innovative and user-friendly material that combines the workability of a clay-like material with the beauty of precious metal, enabling the user to easily make precious metal jewelry. Kaye-Moses' work is in private collections nationally and internationally and has been shown in galleries and at juried craft shows, including the The Paradise City Arts Festivals, Smithsonian Craft Show, ACC Craft Fairs, and Berkshire Crafts Fair. The author brings to Pure Silver Metal Clay Beads her expertise as a teacher and also as the Curator for the seminal "Millenial Metal"(Lynn Tendler Bignell Gallery, CT, 2001), the first major exhibition of work made using metal clay.

Catherine Conolly Love the hats!

Cornelia Carey Billie Mitchell and Nan Kitchens did such an amazing job with their Phoenix Rising exhibition and CERF fundraiser last week in Phoenix. I'm still riding on the incredible energy and support they demonstrated. And my wallet is saying, "you done good, dear!"

Cornelia Carey I'm off to NCECA in Phoenix on Tuesday...any other FOC's going (that's Friends o'CERF)?

Jackie Abrams CERF is an incredibly wonderful and supportive organization!

Billi Rs Rothove CERF's assistance was timely and generous. Their help came at just the right time. It profoundly helped my moral. CERF's assistance helped me heal after suffering a heart attack, a two week coma, and four months later an emergency quadruple bypass. Thank you.
