Player Profile
AB De Villiers Photobucket Few people in the history of Test cricket have been required to make as versatile a start to their international careers as was the case with the richly talented AB de Villiers. His first call-up came against England in 2004 as an opening batsman when Herschelle Gibbs was injured. When the latter reclaimed his place, De Villiers took over the specialist batsman/wicketkeeper position at No 7 and made a match-saving half-century that prevented the Proteas from going 2-0 down in the five-match series. Recent statistical highlights include his 4 000th first-class run and his 3 000th Test run. The fact that he is the best outfielder in both the Test and ODI sides and is a more than adequate understudy to Mark Boucher behind the stumps underlines his all-round talents.

Gerald

Gerald persisting with the guys that are out of form is going to cost the protea's dearly....What a pity that Ntini was the only one dropped...our spinner in the team????????

Sazi

Sazi I hope Steyn can bat the same way he did in Australia when we were trouble. Prince needs to be taken off his misery, obviously he is uncomfortable at the opening berth. Duminy has this test's second innings to save his position in the team, sad to say. Otherwise great fightback from the boys!!

Samantha

Samantha I just arrived home from the match. The Barmy Army look set to completely outnumber home support since most people go back to work tomorrow. So everyone who is not due back at work tomorrow, please come to the test match. It was deeply distressing to hear louder cheers for the English than the Proteas. Tickets are just...... R10 for everyone 18 and under. Please sound your support for the boys because they appreciate it more than you realise.

Immanuel Ernest Smith,Prince,Amla - Top 3 only Anchors ? What for ? Who's gonna score and who's going to anchor whom ? Prince - natural middle order batsman.Amla - No footwork.
How about this one?.... Smith,Alviro,Kallis,De Villiers,Prince....By the way.... our bowling will be strong this time I think.Every thing is ok in the team other than a slight adjustment in top order.

Martin

Martin Great comeback. To those who say Kallis and Boucher must be dropped, just look at today's game and who made the difference. Great move in pushing Steyn up the order. The negative of today is the poor performaces of the rest of the top order!!
