I was just popping on your wall to comment about your piece in the OA, and here it is! Hilarious. I definitely enjoyed the one about simultaneous submission policies. Ain't it the sad, sad truth. Hope you are well!

Very well, thanks for asking. Teaching earth science and doing weather forecasting on the side. Funny, I couldn't stand 9th grade earth science at Newark. I even had my dad come in to talk to Mr. Harrison because I didn't understand his style of teaching. : ) Now I love it. You know, I read the excerpt about the boy in high school that ... Read Moreinspired your avenue into writing. Jerry Milstead and I were trying to figure out who it was. We think we know but I don't want to put names on here. How is your mom? and the rest of your family. Well, I read about 2 books a year, and they are usually science related so this will be a change.

It is really quite impressive- and I'm not just saying that because your mother is one of my favorite people. You have a great talent. It was a joy to read. I rarely find the time to finish what I start- and I couldn't put The World In Half down.

I totally agree Pegs. Usually it takes me a few weeks to finish a book because I only read just before I fall asleep. I only put this book down long enough to sleep. I'm also reading her short story collection now -- so far my favorite story is Mercury. Did you read Come Together...?

LOVE the story of how you became a writer and very much appreciate your willingness to share those "human" moments- I wonder what the boy who gave you that journal would say now? What a nice young man to take that approach- a rare person.

My guilty writing-origin admission: I knew I wanted to become a writer when I (unfairly!) lost a story writing contest in 1st grade. :) Great post.
