While it seems that this summer in the Greek community in DC and Greek America overall passed by quieter than most, there have a few highlights worth recapping before heading into the fall. A few destination weekends were enough to supplement the scattered opportunities to see Greeks here in DC.

There are many reasons to be optimistic about the 88th AHEPA Supreme Convention reestablishing itself as a destination event for Greek American young adults. After several years of inaccessible, unaffordable, or uninspired destinations, Montreal serves as a unique backdrop for this year's edition.

A string of Facebook posts over the past few days from the Tidewater area presents us a rare opportunity to use this space to help out a Greek with ties to the DC area win an internet-based contest, as Socrates "Soc" Manuel vies to be the new "Face of FOX 43", the FOX affiliate in Hampton Roads, VA.

Seems like every news story is about what is happening along our shores. Well, let there be no gulf of misunderstanding – Third Thursday is June 17th at Surfside DC. Great food, multiple levels, decent prices, a deck, it is all there, starting at 7 pm – be there oil you’ll miss out.
