The Communist Chinese are still recuperating from their days with Mao and the Red Army. Even youth was taught to swarm and to bruaslize "enemies of the state". TOo many of them learned a lot about fascist brutality and too little about human love and worth. When China invaded Tibet, the ggentle enlightened and religious people were taken form their... Read More monasteries and tortured, so it is hard for the Tibetan people to see the Chinese authorities as friendly, which they so obviously are not, if people cannot parade in the streets that they have built and paid for, themselves.

Dalai Lama (14th) - Tenzin Gyatso Beverly, the way I understand it, meditation is plain mind training, so any body posture is meant to be just helpful in concentration. There is walking meditation, lying meditation... in that sense, what ever is comfortable for you to get your thoughts on the right track is what works.

When I began training my mind, I constantly obsessed over my body posture until it consumed my mind and negated any useful thinking I sought to accomplish.

Then one day I went and meditated at a local temple with some wonderful monks that gave me this exact advice.

After taking this to heart, I was immediately able to better concentrate for longer periods of time because the worry of my back aching from a rigid posture was no longer a concern.
