City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs December 4, 2009 -- Fair Park Esplanade Dedication Ceremony. The recently restored Fair Park Esplanade, a 700-foot-long reflecting pool capped with three fountains, was built for the 1936 Texas Centennial Exposition. Laurence Tenney Stevens created "The Contralto" and "The Tenor" sculptures located at the end of the Es...planade fountain. Friends of Fair Park selected David Newton to re-create the sculptures based on his remarkable recreation of the "Woofus" sculpture, also by Stevens. You'll find the esplanade between Centennial Hall and the Automotive Building, just beyond the parks main entrance off of Parry Avenue.
