DPDMAP is an all volunteer group of DPD officers and DPD civilians originally founded by retired DPD Sgt. Debbie Branton several years ago. The program had only a handful of volunteers who prepared care packages to send to deployed officers that were paid for by the volunteers themselves. Today, the program has increas...ed by another handful of volunteers maintaining contact with deployed officers, family members, and friends through e-mail, phone calls, and care packages. DPDMAP meets deployed officers returning from deployment or Rest and Relaxation (R&R) at the airport or other point of entry, as well as seeing them off. DPDMAP also provides additional assistance to deployed officers, acting as liaisons between the officer and the Department if needed. DPDMAP collects donated items from officers and civilians to send to the deployed officers. DPDMAP also collects monetary donations that are deposited into an established bank account managed by the programs President and founder, Debbie Branton. The funds are used for shipping of care packages, lunch meet with a deployed officer family member, lunch meet with the officer upon return from a deployment, and financial assistance. Until recently, donated items could only be turned in at Narcotics, Youth, and Personnel, however, boxes with the DPDMAP logo will begin showing up at patrol stations, the Academy, Love Field, and other Divisions for officers and civilians to donate requested items by deployed officers.Read More
