Dan River Company End of closing day at DRC. We'll see y'all again on April 1st, 2010. It'll be an auspicious year.

Dan River Company The colors continue to blaze with glory on the Dan River. Are you going to let a little mild weather keep you from the annual display?

Dan River Company Well - the season has sorta fizzled out with the cooling weather and drizzling rain keeping our fair weather boaters off the river. But if you're game the Dan River has one last offering this Saturday with temps in the 70s and only a moderate chance of light rain.

Peggy Behrman Payne Great place and great people!! Sorry we didn't get there much this summer.

Dan River Company Another nice river trip slideshow from one of our very excellent boaters. Hoping you can get in one more trip before DRC closes for the season!

Grace, Charlotte, Shelby & Ruby, Alice and Rick, Audubon friend Tom, and myself make our way down six miles of the Dan River in Stokes County, NC. The river is up compared to the drought years. Beautiful section borders on Hanging Rock State Park. FUN!

Dan River Company A bit of photographic documentation on the fallen tree strainer currently (as of late October 2009) threatening boaters on DRC's "6 Mile Trip" section of the Dan River.

A fallen tree completely blocks the Dan River at Play Wave Rapid about 1/4 mile upstream of the Hanging Rock State Park river access on Flinchum Rd in Danbury, NC.

Dan River Company What is a "strainer"? A strainer is any obstruction in the river that will allow the river current to pass through but not boats, boaters, animals, etc. A discussion of 'strainers' is a part of the "DRC Safety Talk" which all of our boaters are forced to listen to before getting on the river.

Dan River Company Dan River Warning: A new strainer is completely obstructing the river at a location popularly known as "the Play Wave" about 1/4 mile upstream of the Hanging Rock State Park river access. It will very likely be removed in the near future but be sure to scout and - if necessary - portage to on the right.

Dan River Company DRC was privileged to supply equipment for the Kids Kayaking event at this past weekend's 35th Annual Stokes Stomp in Danbury, NC. Three local paddling clubs, lead by Tarheel Paddlers Assoc, did short 15 minute kayak "trips" with over 100 children this past Saturday afternoon. It was a very cool event and could not have happened without the hard work of our local paddling community. Thanks!

Dan River Company We had the extreme pleasure of helping with the 35th annual Stokes Stomp this past weekend. Today is the final cleanup but hopefully tonight we'll have a photo or two.

Dan River Company We have been having the nicest Labor Day weekend putting many folks on the river. When asked if he'd spotted any wildlife on the river one of our excellent boaters yesterday replied, "a couple geese, a little snake, and lots and lots of tranquility."

Dan River Company The Joy Trip Project is a favorite podcast of the Dan River Company. The poet featured in this episode will (we think) appeal to many folks who enjoy a river adventure from time to time.

A lot of businesses are starting to explore their creative side. Expressions of art have begun to creep into the culture of many companies. In boardrooms and at seminars across America the stage is set for performing artists like corporate poet Gordy Boudreau.
