The Dan River needs more evangelists like you! Thanks

Dan River Company Good luck to DRC racing team member and former employee, Susie, on her first day working at Great Outdoor Prov Co in Winston-Salem today! We know you'll do a great job and have fun being in the city regularly.

Dan River Company As usual there is no official schedule for July other than meeting the 'one recreation release per weekend' rule. The reservoirs are currently over 9/10ths full pool. Hydro has been generating 4,000kW which is expected to continue for some time. A fresh batch of rain would be really helpful!

Dan River Company Shaping up to be an awesome week on the river. River level is holding well above normal and double what we had last year! Time to call in sick with River-Fever for a mid-week paddle?

Dan River Company Woo Hoo! We're at 100 FANS! Sorry to have disappeared for the past few days. Our web guy was out on a much deserved break beyond the reach of Web 2.0

Dan River Company Hanging Rock State Park has a lot to offer. Check out this workshop if you're up here this weekend.

Thanks for the pics and support for all the good work the Stokes County Arts Council does.

Dan River Company Recovering from another successful Poker Paddle Run. Father's Day tomorrow is going to be even busier - there are a lot of lucky Dads in the DRC boater community. :-)

"Extra Rain Forces Outfitters to Monitor River Levels Carefully"
By Sheeka Strickland FOX8 News

Dan River Company DRC's number one man, David, has been quite popular with the local media. A spot on WXII last night and this morning on river safety and today Sheeka Strickland with WGHP Fox8 came up to talk about safety and river levels. That will air this evening on the 5pm newcast.

Thanks for spotting the appearance!

Dan River Company Hooray! The Dan River is back down within our zone. Preparing to hit the water with a group of Hanging Rock State Park Rangers doing their certification course to lead river trips for Park guests.

Dan River Company Q: When is the river safe? A: Rivers are not "safe". Rivers have the potential to injure and worse at virtually any level. As river levels rise the hazards and risks change and generally increase. But even at low levels there are plenty of hazards. Good judgement and honest assessment of your skills and experience are always important and contribute to the outstanding safety record of Dan River Company boaters!

Dan River Company On your next visit to the Danbury/Hanging Rock SP area take an hour to browse historic Priddy's General Store.

Dan River Company It's looking like one last day of high water for a while. If today's thunderstorms will just go lightly we'll be able to put boaters on the water by tomorrow.

Dan River Company One of our favorite local businesses ... just up Hwy 89 in Mount Airy, NC.

Janis Do you think the Dan will be safe to canoe next Monday or Tuesday?
Dan River Company at 2:09pm June 17
Absolutely! No more rain expected after today with temps soaring into the 90s. We're expecting that the river will return to our "safe zone" by tomorrow and start clearing up from it's currently muddy state by Saturday when it should be back down to 200cfs on the USGS gage at Francisco.

You should have a great time! We were very sad to cancel the Diabetes campers from Camp Hanes earlier this week due to dangerous conditions. Glad that it looks like it'll work out for y'all!

Dan River Company DRC is looking forward to attending another fantastic Kibler Valley River Run this July 25th!
An annual event sponsored by the Red Bank Ruritan Club. The race takes place the 4th Saturday of July. $25.00 gets you a T shirt, a number and a shuttle to the top. Race starts by an official countdow...
Stacy at 10:02am June 17
What is the experience level of this.
Andrew at 10:13am June 17
calendar clear, i'm there (assuming bruce can loan me a boat)
Dan River Company at 2:04pm June 17
The annual Kibler Valley River Run is on the Dan River near the headwaters starting at the Pinnacles Hydro Plant. The race is roughly 5.5 miles long. The first quarter mile includes several "creek-grade" class III rapids - you definitely need to know what you're doing.
Many novice boaters put in just below the last honest-to-goodness class III; ... Read MoreBasketball Rapid. From that point down to the finish line it's a beautiful class I/II creek.
It is not necessary to race in order to participate. Many attendees just want to take advantage of the shuttle and support the Ruritans. That said, the competition can be fierce. It is not unusual for national champions in the open canoe class to show up.
Even if you don't race it is a very fun event in one of the most spectacular hidden places near the NC/VA Piedmont.
