Biography:
Daniel Amos began as an acoustic quartet formed in 1975 by Terry Scott Taylor, Steve Baxter, Jerry Chamberlain and Marty Dieckmeyer. (Drummer Ed McTaggart joined the band shortly after the release of its first album). Although some of the band members' previous bands had been playing straight rock music, D.A.'s early sound was heavily inspired by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, The Band and The Byrds' Sweetheart of the Rodeo. Hi - DA got me through college (1981 - 1984) - Of course I had everything on Vinyl ! My only copies of Fearful Symmetry and Darn Floor Big Bite to this day are cassettes.... DFBB re-release? When?!!?

Songs of the Heart fits stylistically right between Mr Beuchner's Dream and Bibleland ... it's mostly straight-up rock with a sweetness to the lyrics that belays some musical darkness. Oh, yeah .. it's also a rock opera. Easily found for a couple of bucks it's well worth picking up.

The only disc I do not own here is "songs of the heart" Any feedback on it's style / sound / is it familiar to anything they have done on other discs? thanks.
