Daniel B. Maffei Thousands of postcards were sent to New Yorkers by an insurance company trying to get customers to switch Medicare plans, and many of the postcards inadvertently had social security numbers printed above the address line. Please read the story by WSYR for more information on what you should do to protect your identity if you received one of those post card.

If you're a senior citizen, check your mailbox very carefully. An insurance company that offers Medicare benefits has sent out 80,000 postcards with the social security numbers of the intended recipients printed on the front.

Daniel B. Maffei Yet another reminder of the out of control costs of health care in our current system. Across the area, health plans are announcing rates for next year and we're seeing increases from nearly 7% to nearly 25% for plans. These kind of yearly increases are completely unsustainable for families and businesses alike.

When major air carriers began instituting bag check fees in 2008, it was cited as a way to offset rising fuel costs. Since then, fuel costs have plummeted but the bag check fees are only increasing.
