There are two competing proposals to run a dot-gay domain. One by a for-profit outfit with no LGBT affiliation, and the other by the Dot Gay Alliance which would devote proceeds to LGBT philanthropic endeavors. If dot-gay web addresses are created, and if a profit is to be made from the sale of dot-gay domains, I feel strongly that these profits should fund organizations working to achieve LGBT equality.

But everything in a .gay domain could be trivially blocked by censorious anti-equality organizations (and possibly by controversy-averse well-meaning libraries, schools, etc, particularly in "red" states). Do we really want to make that sort of exclusion easier?
