DarkGamer was created by the founding member [duh], Snorlaxative. Purchased first back in 2002, the domain "DarkGamer" has stuck with the site. The original plan was to be an animated .GIF image page, however since then a massive overhaul has occurred.
The first public release presented DarkGamer as directed towards web design and gaming. Content ranged from game reviews and graphic-design tutorials all the way to javascript and coding support for Proboards users.
Currently, the site is on its fourth design, the previous three being utter fail. And sadly, this is the first design to actually feature content on the main page [lawl]. DarkGamer is still community driven, and as such the most important feature is the forum. In fact, the original design of the forum [first released in 2003, under the name "Hatake Forum", or HF] was so unique that many smaller forums sprung up with suspiciously similar designs.....hmm.....
2005 brought about the release of HF v.2.0. At this time we now offered free templates to go alongside our web development archive. Activity was booming. 2000 members strong and growing fast, all was well. Then, tragedy struck. Some anonymous prick.....er.....source, rather, informed Proboards that we "stole" button icons from another forum [Snorlaxative got direct permission from both the artist and the forum administrator; no thievery involved].
Thus, the new Rome fell. Each member signing on one at a time, only to find out that, to their dismay, HF v.2.0 was gone. After months of contacting members, a new community was formed on HF v.3.0, but to no avail. Activity was weak. Content was low. Enthusiasm dwindled. Soon, Hatake Forum was an online ghost town.
Suddenly, around January 2009, Snorlaxative contacted a few of the most die-hard members with [ha] exciting news. DarkGamer was online! With no content, no style, and no members, it would be a lot of work. A month later, the forum was functional and had back a few more of the dedicated members that stuck with the forum for, at this point, 4 to 6 years. With past experience, fresh enthusiasm, and renewed momentum, development on DarkGamer was on a roll.
Now with frequently updated unique content, an active community, and a dedicated staff, DarkGamer is growing into the community it was meant to be. So if you're a member, keep on contributing!
