Team Englin supporter and playwright Scot Walker is presenting "2 Shorts in Black and White" as part of the Capital Fringe Festival, which begins July 11. Scot is a talented artist whose books and plays entertain while challenging anti-gay bias and discrimination. Scot has very generously offered to contribute a portio...n of the proceeds of the Thursday, July 16 performance to support my re-election. In Scot's own words, "The playwright wishes to honor Virginia State Delegate David L. Englin for his unceasing devotion to transforming Virginia's laws to include equality for gays, lesbians, and transgendered people." I'm deeply honored, and I hope you'll join us. Act One is a comedy entitled Count Dracula's Café. Since 1983, the FDA has refused to accept homosexual blood and Count Dracula has lost his joy of life: he's unable to enjoy the opera or the ballet and doesn't even like Liza Minnelli songs any more. Now he's bought a Starbucks: he knows where gays hang out!
Act Two is a drama entitled Molasses Toast and French Fried Eels. A man dies and returns to life with power to foretell the future. . . what he discovers will change his and his friends' lives forever.
